brought football back to baltimore. 11 news sunday morning starts right now. >> welcome to the sunday news. our top stories in a moment. first what a day it was yesterday, weather wise. >> we had some very strong storms through the area. even a few reports of severe weather, whether it be in montgomery, washington county, frederick county, also possible funnel reported by an officer near sandy point. so possibly there was a funnel near the area. nonetheless, we did have some strong storms that brought down some trees. as we look at hd doppler, we can see that front finally moving off shore. rain showers still left along the lower eastern shore including rain right now in ocean city, but it has cleared out as you look across southern maryland, baltimore, even in the western start of the state. this is all changing now as we get throughout the day. that front is heading off shore. we are looking for beautiful conditions. currently around 60 degrees. we're moving for high temperatures up near 80. you're gonna wake up to clouds and a few showers across the lower eastern shore. and cooling skie

downtown to fayette street. >>> two men are shot in north baltimore and the police are searching for the gunmen. linda so is live at the police headquarters. what is the latest? >> reporter: the search continues for the suspects and the motive remains uncleared. two men were shot in the arm just before 10:00 last night near north parkway the men are in their 20s and 40s. both victims were shot in the arm. the men were found in a car. but the police say that the shooting did not happen at that election. they believe it happened somewhere else and they drove to that area. and men were taken to near hospitals with non-life threateng injuries. and the search for the suspect continues this morning and the motive is unclear. linda so, "abc 2 news." >>> it is a tough time for people in harford county sheriff's department is preparing for at loss. they're saying good-bye to another sergeant this morning. he died of a heart attack wednesday night. he started feeling the symptoms during the funeral of another colleague who died in a car crash last week. he is survived by a wife and young c

will be held today for anthony anderson. he's the man from east baltimore who died after a confrontation with baltimore city police last week. anderson had been walking home last week in east baltimore when he came into contact with several police officers. in the first initial police report that was given after his death, it said that he died because he was trying to hide drugs that he was ingesting. however, now police admit it's not true and people who say they saw that confrontation, they tell a much different story. >> he put his arms to the side and come straight up and slammed them on his neck, collar bone-like. he sit that man up. [ indiscernable ] >> well now police will only say the circumstances of this case remain under investigation. the visitation, by the way, it begins today at 10:00 a.m. at march funeral home and after the funeral tomorrow morning the family is planning a march. that is going to happen from the funeral home down to the scene of that confrontation with police. >>> a woman in anne arundel county, she's accused of trying to kill her estranged husband by hitt

schools -- baltimore city schools today due to the harry and jeanette wineberg undation. they are having a huge event hosting a grand opening of the first of three school libraries. so right now abc2 news sherrie johnson is live with more on what's happening and why this is so exciting. >> reporter: well, yes, we are here live at the thomas johnson elementary middle school and south baltimore where in few hours there's going to be the grand unveiling. not only here at this school but two other schools to make it three new libraries total. and this morning, i have lyanne with me who has two sons one inpre-k and first grade. tell me about what you think about this library project and the fact the schools get the new libraries. >> i think it's incredible. especially for the city where we sometimes feel like we are forgotten the but this is bringing such a positive buzz to the neighborhood. we are getting 4,000 new bucks a pretty shiny new library where the kids can go in and experience learning. >> reporter: what do you think about the wineberg foundationteaming with up community partners t

of last season's afc title game. baltimore lost the game 23-20 on a last second missed field goal. last night the game down to the wire again. flacco threw for 382 yards, three touchdowns. tucker picked the field goal as time expired. 31-30 ravens. first time the pats have lost in baltimore since 1983. pretty incredible. the win was huge for ravens fans. also, for wide receiver smith. that game more than just football. >> he was playing with a heavy heart and it showed. grief stricken smith on the sideline. linda so is here with exactly how the wide receiver is dealing with the loss of his brother, how he coped on the field. >> he says back in the game is helping him a lot and support he received from teammates and fans has gone a long why. he plied yesterday's game for his brother, 19-year-old jones, died before midnight sunday when haze motorcycle crashed in to a utility pole in virginia. alcohol was not a factor and he was wearing a helmet. smith traveled to virginia to be with his family and got an hour of sleep before the game and made the decision to play when he got to the stadiu

news' sherrie johnson is live this morning in northeast baltimore with the story and what's the latest on the investigation? >> reporter: okay, right now megan, police are still searching for a suspect in this shooting. so that investigation continues. now we are told that classes are set to resume this morning after the campus was on lockdown yesterday and evening classes were also canceled because of the shooting. but they are set to resume classes this morning. this all happened yesterday about 4:15 p.m. witnesses say the victim was inside the morgan state student center playing pool. he was shot inside the student center and he collapsed outside the building. investigators don't think the victim or the gunman were students at morgan state and right now many students are concerned leading to questions about how easy it can be for outsiders to come in and cause trouble. >> i heard a gunshot or like a big noise. so now i came out here to check and i found out it was him on the ground and he was bleeding. >> reporter: not yet released the name of the victim. they're also still searchin
